Graduate Programs

in

Infectious Disease and Immunology

Our program and faculty offer graduate students the opportunity to receive quality training within the disciplines of infectious diseases, molecular biology, immunology, bacteriology, parasitology, and virology. The tools of genetics, molecular and cellular biology, and microbiology are used in our research program to understand the regulation of disease causation (pathogenesis).  Much of our research focuses on improving knowledge of the host-pathogen interface such that new and more effective therapies can be developed. We offer a M.S. or Ph.D. degree to our graduate students.

It is the goal of the faculty to prepare our students for successful careers in academic research, government, and/or the biotechnology industry. Successful applicants to the program already will have established a commitment to excellence through academic achievements and prior research experience. The standards for the Ph.D. degree follow the recommendations put forth by the Committee on Education of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (http://www.iubmb.org/phdstand.htm).

We thank you for taking the time to consider our program for your graduate education. We are confident you will find our graduate program, Montana State University, and the Bozeman area represent a unique opportunity to achieve a balance between quality of education and quality of life as you pursue your graduate education in the biomedical sciences.
